A British media report has revealed that Manchester City has withdrawn from the deal to sign West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá.

City was close to acquiring Paquetá last summer but backed out due to a betting scandal.

Renowned journalist Jack Gaughan reported that Manchester City has decided to permanently withdraw from the deal following accusations of misconduct against Paquetá.

The English Football Association announced a few days ago that Paquetá is accused of breaching betting rules and has until June 3 to respond to these allegations.

If Paquetá is found guilty, he faces a lengthy suspension, potentially ending his career altogether.
